The UK is a centre of excellence in education. Qualifications obtained here are globally recognised and respected. Acquiring a UK educational qualification can get your career off to a flying start. With sophistication, cutting edge technology, a matchless charm, and above all, educational quality that’s backed by centuries of tradition, the United Kingdom is just the right place to give your career that flying start, or push it on to a higher level.
In addition to the hallowed Oxford and Cambridge, the UK has a large number of other universities which rank among the best in the world. Moreover, UK universities and other educational institutions offer wide ranging educational options. Many of today’s world leaders, business leaders, and scientific talents have studied at UK universities.
The student population in the UK is uniquely cosmopolitan. Students from all over the world study together to create a rich and diverse environment that contributes to the educational experience. Studying in the UK is rewarding, inspiring, great fun, and truly an experience of a lifetime.
The tier system now also includes the post-study work category under Tier 1. This really does add a new dimension to the advantages of studying in the UK because if you have completed an undergraduate degree, a master’s degree or PhD at a UK university, then you will be eligible for a 2-year visa that enables you to work in the UK and get your career off to just the start you always wanted.
Tier 4 (General)
In order to study in the UK, you will need to qualify under Tier 4 (General) of the immigration rules. There are two main requirements. First, you will need to have been accepted on a course at an educational institution in the UK that has been approved by the Home Office. The Tier 4 Register of Sponsors is the list of colleges and universities that have been approved by the Home Office.
It is essential that the institution you intend to study with is on this list.
Second, you will have to show that you will be able to afford the cost of your studies, and the cost of living in the UK, without having recourse to public funds. This must be shown by demonstrating that you have a specified amount of money available to you. The amount of money you have to show will depend on the course, where you will be studying (more money is needed if the course is in London), whether you are applying from within the UK or from overseas, and whether you will be living in the UK alone, or with your dependents (wife and children).
Many applicants have encountered difficulties in proving that they have the required level of funds. This is because the Home Office requirements as to how much money you must show, and the documents that you must produce to prove this, are very detailed. If the exact requirements are not met, the application will be refused. Applications often fail because the precise documents have not been provided.
